Abdominoplasty – Novel Soft-Tissue Surgical Models for Acute Pain

The prevailing soft tissue acute pain surgical models (hemorrhoidectomy, herniorrhaphy, hysterectomy, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, colon surgery) are slow to recruit and present financial and logistical challenges. Additionally, these models are flawed from an experimental standpoint (high variability/ small effect sizes).

In 2001, Lotus developed abdominoplasty as a reliable, cost-effective and rapidly enrolling soft tissue model for acute pain. Lotus has had significant success with the model. Below are a few examples of publicly available abdominoplasty results:
